Tour directions start on
Highway 33 at the intersection
of Hwy 33 and County
Trunk SS (near S&S
Wildflowers), turn north (left)
onto County Trunk SS. Go about
one-half mile to the intersection of
SS and Hwy 44.
Continue north (straight) on Hwy
44 about one-half mile to
Barden Road, turn west (left)
on Barden Road and continue for
about a mile and a half to Dolgner
Road.
Turn north (right) onto
Dolgner Road, drive slowly it
is a curvey road and there is an Amish school
house here. You will intersect
with Military Road, bear to the
northeast (slightly to right) for a quarter mile
to County Trunks E
& EE. Continue north (straight) on
EE for approximately one-half
mile to Kiefer Road. Turn west
(left) onto Kiefer Road.
Quickly Kiefer Road will turn
to the north. After the curve, on the west
(left) side of Kiefer Road is
an Amish
Bakery (open Fridays &
Saturdays only). Continue north from the bakery
to Turner Road and turn west
(left) onto Turner for about
one & a half miles to Highway
22.
Turn north (right)
onto Hwy 22 and proceed for one
mile to the intersection of Hwy
22 with both County Trunk
CM and Gulch Road. At
this intersection, on your left is Ludlow's Kountry
Korner - Country cooking in the
heart of the Amish Community. Open 6 days in teh
Summer and serving breakfast and lunch until 2pm
(closed Mondays). Winter hours open Friday until
8pm serving Fish Fry, plus Saturday and Sunday
open until 2pm. Stop in to eat or for
refreshment.
Turn east (right) onto
Gulch Road. Gulch
Road has multiple Amish
businesses along it, plus an
Amish school
house and a sawmill. The
businesses include a seamstress, greenhouse,
discount
grocery (dents), another
greenhouse, furniture
store, another grocery.
After browsing and shopping continue east. Gulch
Road becomes Barry Road. Follow
Barry Road east to the
intersection of County trunk
EE. The tour continues straight east.
(However, if you wish to make a short detour to
the south on EE, there is a custom furniture
shop located a short distance to
the south.)
Use caution when
crossing crossing EE, visibility is
limited.
In a short distance you will
intersect with Hwy 44. Again,
use caution when crossing Hwy
44, visibility is limited. Continue
east (straight) across Hwy 44
onto County Trunk HH. On
HH you will find Hidden
Blessings, a gift shop that
carries Amish Merchandise. Further east is an
Amish
contractor specializing in metal
sided buildings.
Stop and proceed with
caution across the Union Pacific
railroad tracks. Continue east
(straight) to the intersection of County
Trunk H. The tour turns south (right)
here onto County Trunk H.
(However, a short detour to the north (left) on
H takes you to an Amish grocery
store).
Continue south on
County Trunk H for one mile.
Stop and proceed with caution across the
Union Pacific railroad tracks.
After crossing the tracks, you will turn east
(left) onto a township road named Kowald
Road. (There is a Kowald Drive
(driveway) before the tracks, do not enter
there.)
Continue east on
Kowald Road. The first place on
the left is an Amish furniture maker.
Continue east (straight) and you enter wetlands
which are the headwaters of the historic Fox
River. You cross under a cement arch railroad
bridge nicknamed "Graffiti Bridge" because of
all the graffiti written on it. You cross the
Fox River (barely a stream) and can view another
arch bridge to the right. Continue east to
Inglehart Road. Turn north
(left) onto Inglehart Road and
continue north on this hilly, curvy road to
County Trunk GG.
Turn east (right) on
GG and shortly you will enter a
small hamlet called Salemville where the
Amish Cheese
Factory is located. You may
purchase a variety of cheeses there (open daily
except Sunday and Saturday morning). After the
cheese factory to the east is Salemville
Greenhouse, and further
down the road is an Amish candy store. County Trunk
GG ends at the intersection with
County Trunk G. Turn south
(right) on County Trunk M. You
will again cross the Fox River. Continue south,
you will re-enter Columbia County.
At the county line turn east
(left) onto County Line Road
(may be signed North County Line
Road). The first farm on the left is an
Amish chair
maker. Continue east to the
intersection with East Friesland
Road. The tour turns south (right) onto
East Friesland Road. (If you
wish to detour...an Amish furniture and cabinet
maker is further to the east on
County Line Road, the first farm on the left.)
Once on East Friesland Road go
south for one and a half miles to the
intersection with County Trunk
E. Turn west (right) on County
Trunk E.
Follow E
westward about one mile to the
intersection with County Trunk
EF. Turn south (left) on County
EF to Friesland. In Friesland you will
find Friesland
Foods for some light
refreshment, and a local gift shop...Floral Art &
Gifts, plus two parks to lunch
in or simply take a break. Continue south
(straight) through Friesland on
EF to Highway
33. Turn west (right) onto
Highway 33 for about 1.5 miles
to the intersection of Highway
146. Turn south (left) onto Hwy
146 (exercise caution, this can be a
busy intersection) and continue south into
Cambria.
After the "s-curve" on
Hwy 146 is a convenience store
and gas station for fueling. Continue to
downtown on Hwy 146.
Immediately after crossing over the dam, turn
west (right) onto County Trunk
P (Edgewater Street) which is the
business district of Cambria. Located in that
first block is Pride Originals, an
Amish-Heritage custom furniture maker. View
their showroom filled with beautiful custom-made
furniture and accessories. Take home a memento
of your visit to the Amish community...or learn

created by the folks at pride originals!
Follow County Trunk
P westward through Cambria (if you
cross railroad tracks you have missed your turns
on P) and continue westward to County
Trunk SS. Turn north (right) onto
County Trunk SS. Continue north
to the intersection with Highway
33. (Just around the corner to the east
(right) on Hwy 33 is S&S
WIldflowers featuring beautiful
varieties of wildflowers, plants and seasonal
vegetables.)
